About Michel Hinfelaar
Michel Hinfelaar is CEO and Founder of Haia Group and has more than 25 years’ experience in IT, with over two decades dedicated to fuel, convenience and mobility retail.
He has worked with major energy companies, retailers, and technology providers across Europe and internationally, helping to shape and deliver retail technology strategies and complex transformation programmes. His experience spans forecourt systems, POS and back-office, payments and fleet cards, loyalty, wetstock, connectivity, cybersecurity, and the integration of EV charging and alternative fuels into the retail environment.
With a background in micro-electronics, networking and software technology, Michel combines hands-on technical knowledge of the forecourt IT/OT landscape with a strong understanding of retail operations and business strategy.
Through Haia Consultancy, Academy and Technology, as well as his involvement with IFSF and OpenRetailing, Michel focuses on interoperability, open standards and helping the industry move towards more flexible, secure and less vendor-dependent retail technology ecosystems.
