EG Group is continuing the rollout of REWE express stores across its fuel retail network in Germany as the company and its partner Lekkerland plan to bring this format to even more stations this year.

Building on the momentum of 50 new openings in 2024, the companies aim to significantly surpass that number in 2025. Currently around 80 Esso stations across Germany feature the REWE express experience.
“With REWE express, we are changing the perception of fuel stations. The feedback from our partners and customers has been overwhelmingly positive. A special thanks goes to everyone at EG and Lekkerland for making this roll-out possible through close collaboration and dedication,” said Volker Friedemann, Country Manager for Germany at EG Group.
At the heart of the REWE express concept is the foodservice area, designed as a shop-in-shop solution under the Backfrisch brand. It features freshly baked goods, hot and cold sandwiches and Lavazza coffee.
Additionally, the checkout area offers a curated selection of fresh, ready-to-eat products, including salads, wraps, and fresh fruits and vegetables. Completing the offering are essential groceries and drugstore items, providing a comprehensive convenience experience.
EG Group and Lekkerland will continue to refine and optimise the concept based on insights gained throughout the roll-out process.
