International Petroleum Istanbul exhibition opens its doors for change and transformation

The 17th edition of the International Petroleum Istanbul is once again preparing to host innovations and strategic business opportunities that will shape the future of the energy and mobility sectors. The event, to be held on April 24–26 at the Istanbul TÜYAP Fair and Congress Center, will also feature the launch of a major change that will shape the future of the exhibition itself.

Petroleum Istanbul

As one of the largest events in Türkiye and the region for the fuel and oil sectors, the International Petroleum Istanbul and the concurrently held Gas & Power exhibitions will take place from April 24–26, 2025, at the Istanbul TÜYAP Fair and Congress Center. Representing a market worth approximately $70 billion, the exhibitions are set to become the most comprehensive meeting points for the fuel and mobility sectors — not only with their broad scope and diverse participants, but also with a major surprise for industry professionals.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS TO BE SHOWCASED TO VISITORS

At the 17th International Petroleum Istanbul and the 6th Gas & Power exhibitions, the latest products and technologies in fuel, equipment, forecourt operations, electric vehicles and charging systems, biofuels, lubricants, and additives will be showcased to visitors, as in previous years.

A NEW PERSPECTIVE ON ENERGY, FUEL, AND MOBILITY

The International Petroleum Istanbul is undergoing a significant transformation as part of its growth strategy. This evolution, which reimagines the worlds of energy, fuel, and mobility, aims to offer participants new opportunities and collaborations.

Selman Gezer, General Manager of Enerji Fuarcılık Org. San. ve Tic. A.Ş., explained the industry’s ongoing transformation and the exhibitions’ approach to this change:
“In Europe and around the world, there are several key transformations taking place in the fuel industry. At the forefront are decarbonization, the growing influence of renewable fuels, and the broader energy transition. Additionally, the fuel sector is undergoing its own internal transformation. New focus areas and emerging industries are becoming increasingly prominent. For example, non-fuel products and services are becoming key revenue drivers for fuel distribution companies. In recent years, some companies have reported triple-digit growth in this segment.”

He added: “Station convenience stores are now playing a central role. Fuel stations are evolving beyond fuel supply points into service and experience hubs, becoming a part of the broader mobility experience. Consumers now stop by fuel stations even when they don’t need fuel — just to grab a coffee, for instance. Companies are also emphasizing clean restrooms, hygienic environments, diverse product ranges in stores, and additional services like car wash facilities. These are now the fastest-evolving aspects of the industry.”

n this context, growing demand for snacks, beverages, and FMCG products at fuel stations — along with car care services, wash centers, and service stations — will have a strong presence at the exhibition. Technologies that enable seamless operation across both fuel and non-fuel domains will also be featured prominently for participants and visitors to explore.

Moreover, reflecting the global impact of the energy transition, innovations and trends that are shaping the future of the fuel and mobility industries will be spotlighted within the exhibition’s expanded scope. This year, the concept of “mobility” will take up even more space, with increased participation from sectors such as next-generation fuels, electric and alternative powertrains, and mobility technologies for both light and heavy vehicles.

TRANSFORMATION IN FOCUS AT THE ACADEMY AREA

A special program has been designed for the “Academy Area,” a core feature of the International Petroleum Istanbul, focusing on the changing perspectives in the industry and the future of the exhibition. Key topics such as e-mobility, non-fuel retail activities, the future of equipment and technologies at fuel stations, and next-generation fuels will be discussed by experts from Turkey and abroad. The event will also feature the traditional “Major Dealer Meeting,” bringing together key stakeholders from across the sector.

THE RETAIL MARKETEERS PARTNERS WITH LEADING ENERGY EXHIBITION PETROLEUM ISTANBUL FOR ENHANCED CONTENT AND NETWORKING

One of this year’s headline international speakers is Christian Warning, founder and managing partner of Hamburg-based consultancy The Retail Marketeers. With extensive knowledge and global experience in non-fuel retail, Warning will share key strategic insights during the “Hour of Power” session within the Petroleum Istanbul Academy. This session will offer attendees invaluable insights into the latest trends and innovations within the convenience retail sector, including convenience stores, car care services, and modern parcel delivery solutions.

In addition to his contribution to this year’s program, Christian Warning is also expected to provide strategic consultancy support for future editions of Petroleum Istanbul. This collaboration is set to strengthen the fair’s global vision and contribute to bringing innovative practices to the Turkish market, while enhancing the role of local stakeholders on the international stage.

“THIS YEAR WILL BE A TURNING POINT IN PETROLEUM ISTANBUL’S HISTORY”

Selman Gezer, General Manager of Enerji Fuarcılık, stated: “We have a very special surprise for visitors, participants, and everyone following our fair. This year will be a milestone in the history of Petroleum Istanbul. Although we are not disclosing everything before the fair, let me put it as clearly as possible: This 17th edition — considering the fair is held every two years — means we are approaching the 30th anniversary next time. And from that point on, the fair will continue with an entirely new face, a new concept, and even a new brand. The launch of this new brand, strategy, goals, and excitement will take place at this year’s Petroleum Istanbul. We are working intensively on it.”
