Maxol has introduced a carbon offset program for its Premium Fuel brand, allowing customers to buy fuel with a 100% carbon offset. This initiative aligns with the retailer’s commitment to sustainability and aims to build customer loyalty by appealing to eco-conscious consumers.
This program, emerged from Maxol’s goal to distinguish its Premium Fuel brand and attract a growing segment of environmentally aware customers. With increasing government regulations and heightened consumer interest in sustainability, many businesses are prioritizing environmental responsibility.
Brian Donaldson, CEO of The Maxol Group, noted, “Sustainability has been a key topic in our board meetings for the past five years. We’ve worked diligently to measure our carbon footprint accurately. ESG efforts must go beyond ticking boxes; they need to evolve continuously.”
Maxol partnered with PDI Sustainability Solutions to develop the Carbon Offset Programme, which offsets all carbon emissions from customers’ Premium Fuel purchases. PDI also provided a marketing toolkit to enhance customer engagement and track program performance, helping Maxol adjust the initiative as needed.
The program also serves to build community goodwill by supporting various green projects, such as planting 10,000 trees across Ireland through volunteer events.
So far, Maxol has experienced greater engagement than expected, with consumer awareness of the program being four times higher than anticipated. A recent customer survey revealed that 58% of respondents were more inclined to choose Maxol Premium Fuel, and 20% said they would visit Maxol more frequently due to the Carbon Offset Programme.
