Over the last decade, the Spanish fuel and convenience market has been undergone a significant transformation with fuel-first forecourts becoming retail destinations. The leading operators in the region have shifted their focus from the needs of the car to the needs of the driver, creating many new experiences that align with the needs and expectations of the modern customers.
With this in mind Insight Research will be organising a study tour of Madrid ahead of forecourttech ’24 in October. Insight Market Focus Madrid will provide the opportunity to explore the latest innovations in Spanish convenience, fuel and mobility retail with hosted site visits planned to Cepsa, Repsol, and Galp.
Hosted site visits
Experience the industry transformation in-person during a programme of hosted retail site visits.
The programme includes a visit to Cepsa’s brand new flagship retail mobility hub opening this summer in the Spanish capital, Madrid. The new site is the realisation of Cepsa’s ‘digitized, connected, and automated strategy for creating fuel stations of the future’, all part of their conversion from traditional service stations to digitized spaces offering multi-mobility, ultra-convenience, and catering services.
Galp will show you their latest retail ‘HUB’. A site providing a fully rounded value proposition, which combines sustainable mobility, quality food services, and digital technology. The site features their reformatted store and café with an extended offer, quality coffee and seating. Galp’s retail ‘HUB’ “offers a differentiated experience” where the number one focus is on the quality of the food offer, all part of their journey to transform their service stations into mobility destinations.
The team at Repsol will present their newest format, featuring the SuperCORE retail offer, EV charging, Amazon collection point, and Repsol’s Klin carwash, one of Spain’s biggest car wash networks. The site has digitalisation and mobile payment at the core, which forms part of Respol’s goal of a unified and digitalised customer experience.
The programme will also feature a pre-visit online workshop, taking place the week before travelling to Madrid. The online session with provide market insight and feature a retailer presentation to start the learning early.
Programme overview
The Insight Market Focus Madrid programme begins with a group dinner in Madrid on the evening of Monday 14 October. We’ll be joined by senior representatives from the three retailer hosts, CEPSA, Galp and Repsol, providing a great opportunity to network and learn more about the market developments ahead of planned site visits the following day.
Then, on Tuesday 15th October, you will visit retail sites at Cepsa, Galp and Repsol allowing time to understand and experience how this market has developed and explore the latest formats from each of these leading retailers.
The programme concludes mid-afternoon, where delegates to forecourttech 24 will be taken to the high-speed train to Alicante, where they will be met by coach and taken to the Asia Gardens Hotel in time to participate in the ‘Champagne & Jazz – Welcome Reception’.
