IONITY has opened a new fast charging park in Rostock, Germany with a fully automated shop under the REWE ready brand. The store features coffee, cool drinks, fresh snacks and other food available around the clock.

In addition to eleven charging stations, it has a fully automated shop under the REWE ready brand.
Together, IONITY, Europe’s leading high-power charging network open to all brands of electric vehicles and Lekkerland, the convenience division of the REWE Group, are making traveling by electric car and charging stops easier and more convenient. The new charging park on the A19 motorway provides coffee, drinks, fresh snacks and other food at the Smart Store around the clock. The entire range includes around 150 items in total, including unrefrigerated, chilled and frozen products.
Purchasing via touchscreen
Shopping in the REWE ready Smart Store is intuitive and quick: Customers select the items they want on a touchscreen and pay for them. A conveyor belt then automatically brings the products from the closed storage area of the shop to the buyer. There is also a coffee machine available where various coffee specialties can be ordered and paid for without cash.
“Many travellers want to enjoy a snack or coffee during their charging stop. Unique portfolio of smart store solutions
Lekkerland offers a portfolio of smart store solutions that is unique in Germany. This includes five concepts that are intended for different locations and use different technologies.
“In addition to the robotics technology, which is also used in Rostock, this includes self-checkout solutions, smart vending and smart fridges as well as computer vision that uses artificial intelligence,” says Mehmet Tözge, who is responsible for the development as Director of Smart Store Development Lekkerland’s smart store solutions.
